Could You Be a Community Connector?

ACCIDENTAL COUNSELLOR TRAINING COURSE 

Monday 27th September - 5pm to 8:30pm  ONLINE ONLY

Local communities across Australia have been significantly impacted by the 2020 bushfires and COVID-19. Many people are experiencing personal challenges as a result of these difficult times.

To help communities support each other through these challenges, identified local Lifeline Centers are offering community members the opportunity to become a Community Connector.

Accidental Counsellor aims to provide participants with the skills to support another in a moment of need, and the self-care tools to ensure their own wellbeing is in focus. While completion of the course does not make participants qualified counsellors, it builds  confidence in how to provide appropriate support  in these moments.

Accidental Counsellor Training Course aims to provide participants with the skills to support another in a moment of need, and the self-care tools to ensure their own wellbeing is in focus. While completion of the course does not make participants qualified counsellors, it builds  confidence in how to provide appropriate support  in these moments.

This course equips participants with the essential skills and structure to:

 • Recognise when a person is in crisis

 • Respond in an appropriate and compassionate manner, and

 • Refer the person to a suitable service    

  

 The course is delivered by qualified Lifeline trainers in two parts that can be completed online:

 • 1 x 90-minute self-paced e-learning module

 • 1 x 3.5-hour face to face workshop - Online 

On completion of the training course Community Connectors will be provided with referrals and  toolkit resources.
